Thrust, March 2000

The first sunny day of the year saw a good turn out at Garlands. There were more people there than I had ever seen before, excepting UKRA 98. There we ere lots of great flights. A good turn out by the NSRG too, with Mike, Brian, Pet & Angela, and Darren & James, although Brian was just there to spectate. Shaun didn't make it, he was ill.

Mike flew...

The Meaner Machine flight was a 'virtual' drag race with Bob Arnott of EARS ( East Anglia Rocketry Society). They've been threatening this for ages, but Bob's Mean Machine is, sadly, nothing more than vapourware. In the end Mike decided to hold the 'race' anyway, and duly won. Come on Bob, get it built!

Pete & Angela flew...

The Initiator got Pete the UKRA G class altitude record, well done Pete.

James flew...

We had a bit of troble recovering the Mk109 from a roof, but other than that, perfect flights.

Darren flew...

Cool flight, but a fin came off, probably when the parachute deployed. It was ripped right out of the fin root. A case of bad internal filleting?
